When the “Swift” nameplate launched a market that had hardly existed before, Maruti Suzuki made a daring foray into uncharted territory in May 2005 by introducing a hatchback that was unlike anything else on Indian roads. After twenty years, one of India’s most iconic car badges is in its fourth generation and has undoubtedly changed.

With the Swift last year alone, the biggest automaker in the nation surpassed the 30-lakh sales mark. Within eight years of its debut, the Swift had sold over ten lakh units, and during the following five years, the number doubled. After six years, the volume figures of thirty lakh were attained. Currently priced between Rs. 6.49 lakh and Rs. 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom), the fourth generation Swift was first offered in India in 2024.
